3. Office Administration

As part of your integrative medicine team, we work with your other health professionals to provide you the highest quality health care.

How long is a treatment session? Generally the first session with treatment runs about an hour. Follow up sessions generally run 30-45 minutes. For your comfort and safety, and by law, only sterile, single-use, disposable needles are used in traditional acupuncture therapy.
Office Hours M-F 9-5.

How many sessions are needed? The number of sessions needed varies, depending on the severity of your "complaint" and the general state of your health. The stronger or younger you are, the more quickly your complaints resolve. Treatment builds on each other, as your health improves, visits are scheduled further apart. If we are unable to help you fairly quickly, we may refer you on to someone who may be more helpful. Some people do schedule regular "wellness care" visits. We find that small problems, caught early, are more likely not to turn into major ones.

Does Insurance cover Acupuncture? Always check with your insurance agent. If you have coverage, we can submit your paperwork electronically. If you do not have insurance coverage, you can use the "superbill" (receipt) we provide to reimburse yourself from your HSA account.

Confidentiality
All communication between us is confidential, including phone messages, and will not be divulged to anyone without your written permission. The only exceptions to this rule are in situations in which I am a mandated reporter: ie: state law, HIPPA, or Patriot Act. My acupuncture license requires me to get periodic continuing education units (ceu's), and my teachers are under the same rules of confidentiality that I am.

Setting Appointments  Office visits are by appointment. You may also call on the day you want to come in to see if there is a walk-in opening. If I am unavailable when you call, please leave your name, number, date(s) you are able to come in, and whether you prefer a morning or afternoon time. I will return your call, and if we can't speak directly, will leave a message indicating a time set aside for you. Please arrive on time, as you use up your own time when you are late.

Changing Appointments  Please call if you must change or cancel your appointment. If I am unavailable, please leave a message. Except for genuine emergencies, if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, or do not show up for your scheduled visit, you will be charged for the time I have set aside for you.

Email  Feel free to contact me via the email link under
Contact Us to schedule an intital appointment or to ask for information. If you need to change or cancel and appointment, please call the office, as I may not have checked the email recently. Please do not send me any forwarded messages or chain emails.

Payment  Office visit charges are due and payable at the end of each office visit. At present, I do not accept plastic. I do accept cash or checks.
